BART Headquarters
Each year, the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) services millions of people across the greater San Francisco area. This vital piece of infrastructure was in need of a new headquarters that could comfortably accommodate its 1,300 employees.
After the purchase of a new building in downtown Oakland was approved, PTA teamed with RIM Architects and Turner Construction on the design-build renovation, which was completed during Covid on a shoestring budget. Since the project’s completion, the 10-story, 250,000-square-foot headquarters has achieved LEED Gold Certification and won a number of other awards that recognize its success in meeting the challenges of “no money” and “no time”—a testament to the agency’s legacy and the design-build team’s dedication.
