Sava Pool
This recreation and competitive-use indoor pool responds to its unique location in Larsen Park, nestling into the sloped landscape to the north and opening to the park.
The south-facing entry and adjacent courtyard form an outdoor gathering space protected from the wind and warmed by the sun. Inside the natatorium, walls of floor-to-ceiling windows surround the pool, granting swimmers sweeping views of the Larsen Park and Stern Grove and providing diffused sunlight.
Durable, low-maintenance materials like cast-in-place concrete walls and aluminum curtain wall framing highlight the building’s simple yet monumental forms. At the interior, cedar slats over acoustical baffles create a comfortable swimming environment while vibrant blue tiles, handcrafted by a local artist, conceal pool equipment.
