Kim Butler joined PTA in 2018, drawn to the firm’s cohesive team and its commitment to expanding equitable housing throughout the Bay Area. Prior to PTA, she worked on a number of project types in the Bay Area and beyond, including a 600,000-square-foot retail center and numerous institutional and civic buildings. An engaging and highly collaborative designer and project manager, she thrives on site during construction, where she develops a hands-on understanding of each design element. Kim has applied her decades of experience to a number of affordable housing rehabs and new construction projects, including the redesign of Harvey Milk Plaza and a rehab of a 70-unit affordable housing project for people living with HIV/AIDS. Kim also co-founded the studio’s sustainability initiative and currently spearheads PTA’s signer commitment to the AIA 2030 Challenge. She graduated from the University of California, San Diego, and received her M.Arch from Boston Architectural College.
