Hunters View Housing
Blocks 7 & 11
Within the second phase of the redevelopment of Hunters View, our design for two blocks breaks them down into manageable, cost-effective elements that actively engage the street—creating a livable, walkable, and friendly community.
Two accessible, five-story apartment buildings are situated on the most level part of the site along Fairfax Avenue, while row houses step down the steeper adjacent streets. Facades that vary in materiality—broad panels in deep charcoal and white, horizontal siding in a bright gray, and perforated Corten steel panels that create visual depth—come together to form a rich and varied street wall. Taken together, these elements provide a much-needed visual intervention, forging a new identity for the neighborhood and incorporating its visual language into that of the broader city.
